Cabot Creamery - Cabot, VT

Cabot Creamery’s cold storage warehouse added an advanced ammonia refrigeration system.

Cabot Creamery Cooperative needed a construction team with the capacity to design-build a new refrigerated warehouse and distribution center on a time sensitive-schedule.

Food Tech was selected to lead the project not only for their broad cold storage construction capabilities, but also because of their record for timely construction management. The 63,000-square-foot facility, located in Montpelier, demanded a fast-track construction schedule, and the Food Tech team worked through the extreme conditions of the Vermont winter.

The finished project includes an advanced ammonia refrigeration system for the cold storage warehouse, which provides energy rebate incentives from the state of Vermont.  The mixing and distribution center is equipped to ship a full range of Cabot cheese and related products.

During the project, Food Tech delivered the following:

  • Cold storage warehouse construction
  • Advanced ammonia refrigeration system
  • Mixing and distribution center for cheese and dairy products
  • Vertical hydraulically storing dock levelers and integrated vehicle restraints
  • Fast-track design-build schedule

Cabot Creamery Cooperative produces award-winning cheese and dairy products. For nearly 100 years, Cabot has been operating in and owned by the farmers of the New England area. Food Tech previously worked on Cabot’s 87,000 square-foot cheese processing plant in Cabot, VT.
